It's your house and your hobby, but we decided on vinyl for a couple of reasons. (And Trav, ever the engineer had 27 8 x 10 glossy color <s>photos</s> charts with circles and arrows and a paragraph on the back of each one.)
The first reason is that vinyl is much easier to install and more forgiving if the measurements are 1/4" off.
The second, and equally important, is that vinyl windows don't need to be painted. EVER. Wood windows do. I suffer from ladderphobia, Trav's got bad knees and his son's moved back to Florida, so that was important. As you may well know, it's expensive to have other people paint for you.
The windows I'm talking about are wood on the inside, vinyl clad on the outside. So they don't need to be painted on the outside.
But they still need to be painted on the inside. And around here, that means spending way too much time taping off the glass, painting and then spending even more time with a razor blade, scraping off the paint that either splattered from the brush or seeped under the tape.

I'm not big on painting, but I do want the flexibility of having something other than white or tan.
I no longer tape. I just try to be careful and keep a damp cloth draped over my shoulder, then scrape off excess.
Just keep the windows the way they are and beat up the walls and ceilings to match [img]graemlins/hmmm.gif[/img] [img]eek.gif[/img] [img]graemlins/sure.gif[/img] [img]graemlins/wonder.gif[/img]
You should have a painting party.
You call up some friends, offer to pay for the 'za (pizza) and beer and whatever and have them over to help you out.
I'm not throwing a "painting party". Should I pass the hat for the "za"?
Anyway, if I really need help painting, I got one mother who has been itching to come over and paint. She's slow but she does good work.
If I put my house up for sale, I have another friend who is willing to help me quickly finish everything off.
Otherwise, I would pay a couple friends to help me do the work.
